About Orbit

Orbit is a private social app for the people who matter.

Most social apps are built to maximize your attention — algorithms that decide what you see, ads that follow you across the web, engagement metrics that reward outrage. Orbit is the opposite.

How it works

You create an orbit — a private circle of people you actually know. Family, close friends, a chosen few. Inside each orbit, you share moments (photos, videos), thoughts (text), and pulses (ephemeral messages that disappear after one view).

You can be in multiple orbits — one for family, one for college friends, one for a creative group. They never mix. What happens in an orbit stays in that orbit.

What's different

• No algorithm. Posts appear chronologically, from the people in your orbit, in the order they were shared.
• No ads. Ever.
• No tracking. We don't run analytics SDKs, third-party trackers, or sell data to anyone.
• Private by design. Membership in an orbit is mutual and invite-only. Row-level security gates every read and write at the database level — not just in the app.
• You own your data. Delete a post, and it's gone. Leave Orbit, and everything goes with you.

Who built it

Orbit is built by a small team that wanted a calmer place to keep up with the people they love. We use Orbit ourselves, every day.
