Why it costs money
Servers, storage, and encryption aren't free. Every photo, video, and message you send lives on infrastructure we pay for, and because we don't mine or sell any of it, nobody else is paying for it either.
The free app is genuinely free, and complete. Your orbits, moments, thoughts, stories, pulses with end-to-end encryption, reporting and safety tools, your data export, and permanent deletion are all free, forever. We will never paywall privacy or safety.
Plus is more, not "the rest." When you upgrade, you're not unlocking basic features we held hostage, you're funding an app whose incentives point at you, and getting the power features as thanks.
